These images were captured by a Nikon 880 digital camera using the Collins image intensifier eyepiece attached to the visual port of the telescope.  A Ha filter was used to cut the sky glow and improve image contrast both visually and through the camera while a .5 focal reducer was used to increase the speed of the optics.  All images were unguided.

The images have been processed using Photoshop.  Multiple exposures were taken and combined to reduce noise and enhance dynamic range.  The halos surrounding brighter stars are a characteristic of the intensifier.

While the images have been processed and show a little more than could be seen visually by my eyes , the Horsehead Nebula was visible through the Collins intensifier attached to a 3.5” Questar!
